A Way Out was such a good game, and a refreshing take on the co-op genre. I absolutely adore co-operative games, especially those in which me and a single friend can complete a campaign. This game from Hazelight Studios was an absolute blast of a time, with minigames in-between story elements such as Connect Four or Baseball being such a nice way to take a break from the story and just have fun. Me and my co-operative partner beat the game in a single sitting with how much we adored it.

This option, in and of itself, goes against the narrative of Red Dead Redemption 2 Guide Dead Redemption 2 , which focuses on Arthur’s search for altruism, that he is trying to be a good person. This dissonance is not felt significantly until the very end, where Arthur has decided to follow an altruistic road, but when in the open world the player can still choose to kill and steal from civilians, contradicting the character’s arc.
That’s also not to mention how absolutely mind-bogglingly gorgeous this game is. The photorealistic visuals are mind-blowing when accompanied by those motion-capture performances of a lifetime. The star-studded cast of Bryan Dechart, Clancy Brown, Valorie Curry, Jesse Williams, and more perfectly brings each and every character to life to tell an enriched story of a very possible near-future. It’s a visually-appealing masterpiece.
It’s not exactly unbelievable or bizarre, even if it is literally out of this world. This odd natural occurrence is a part of the world if you head to the most northern point in Roanoke Valley. Thankfully, he eventually learns later on when Red Dead Redemption 2 shows nothing but disdain for the way the United States government and military have treated the Native Peoples that his prior statement was not true at all. However, it does show that Arthur was uninterested in helping other people unless it meant he got paid, even when it was a people group as badly treated as the Natives.
I am about to reveal to you why Red Dead Redemption 2 is the absolute greatest game of all time. Not of 2018, not of the decade, but of all time. Are you ready for this? Alright, here it comes. Brace yourselves. In this game, you can pat/pet dogs. Any game that includes beautiful puppers but does not let you make direct contact with the little guys is not worth your time. This meta-acknowledgement that Arthur is, after all, just a video game character for the player to control is also a signal that Arthur desires a different life. In his journal , Arthur writes about the conflict of good and evil within him, and envies how easy it seems to be for others, like Charles, to be good. However, the Arthur who exists in those small conversations and in the journal is a separate entity from the one in the game that you control. That Arthur won’t help strangers without the promise of payment. Main missions continually task you with destroying others for your own potential benefit. Arthur will sometimes offer limp verbal disagreement to the actions and decisions of the gang, but it is not until late in Chapter 5 that he actually begins to actively pursue altruism: helping others simply for the sake of it.
