Bowser, Pac-Man, Sonic the Hedgehog, Q*bert, and Frogger are among those that make an appearance. But, in one wide shot of Game Central Station, two characters unrelated to video games can be seen: Vladimir, one of the thugs in the Snuggly Duckling Pub, and Maximus, the proud palace horse, from Tangled , are walking in opposite directions in the station. Mind you, neither of those stories (or the latest “update) claimed a Star Wars Anthology film about Obi-Wan Kenobi is a done deal – just that it’s an idea that IS, in fact, being explored by Lucasfilm. Obi-Wan is also bit like Boba Fett, in that he’s a popular character who played a key role in the first two Star Wars live-action movie trilogies, as well as the Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series (which is still part of the Star Wars franchise’s official canon) and various other Star Wars media (novels, comic books, video games, etc.). Max von Sydow’s character, as noted by /Film in its report, is a prime suspect for the spinoff’s protagonist, given the actor’s age; whoever he’s playing in Force Awakens would be a younger and more active man, around the time of A New Hope (i.e. when the Death Star’s plans were stolen). Alternatively, the Force Awakens rumored storyline indicates that Sydow could be playing an older “Jedi Hunter” – the rumored Force Awakens villains whose ranks, at one point, included Rebels antagonist The Inquisitor – so if his character does show up in Edwards’ spinoff, he may or may not be the protagon
Although many of the references in Disney movies are to characters from their animated classics collection or Pixar films, occasionally the animation studio will add in a nod to other characters under the Disney banner. Schmoes Know reported last night (at the time of writing this) that Han Solo will appear in the Boba Fett movie – now on the lookout for a new director, as former helmsman Josh Trank (the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot) has stepped down.
